In John Kotter’s 1990 article What Leaders Really Do he observed that: “Well-led businesses tend to recognize and reward people who successfully develop leaders.”
President Obama has made it clear that he believes in listening to many opinions. Not that other Presidents did not do this: this new President leads by declaring a value system that acknowledges that developing leaders is the process of nurturing others and is based, at least, on the attitude that others have something to offer, too. People are attracted to this kind of charisma.
However, the burning question for the small business owner, or any individual for that matter is, “Why would anyone want to be led by you?”
Is your spirit a light – a lamp that lights the path people want to follow? That will happen if you have clarity of purpose and authentic humility that serves your Creator and not just yourself. Others find this kind of leadership attractive.
Are you the kind of person that people want to follow?
Proverbs 20: 27 (AMP) The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.
